L1.A3 - 9 Principles of Umpiring:
- Pause, Read, & React (PRR) – Read the position of the fielders to help determine the play.
- Pivot – Enables you to get into position on the field.
- Watch the Ball, Glance at the Runners – You must know when to take your eye off the ball.
- Chest to the Ball – Always face the ball at all times.
- Angle/Distance – Get as much distance as the play will allow. Angle is your first priority.
- Be Set – You must be set to see the play and then make the call.
- Adjust – Be ready to adjust to the playing action constantly.
- Open the Gate – Know when to do it.
- Echo Your Partner – Know your responsibilities
