I've got a question about your kids - academic question
Quite a few of the officials on here don't know me, or don't know that I run a large college development baseball club, the El Dorado Hills Vipers. One of the things we do every year to help our players become better prepared for college, and to make them more recruitable for college baseball, is to offer a private 51 hour tutoring class for the SAT test in cooperation with Kaplan. I run these classes for any EDH Vipers player who wishes to attend, and we get a substantial discount from Kaplan compared to a single student who signs up on his own. We also allow 'friends of the Vipers' to join us in order to save on this valuable class. The Vipers do not get a dime of the fee that Kaplan charges, we simply have the knowledge that our players are better prepared to be recruitable than many other aspiring baseball players around town. Which brings me to the question.....
Which umpires on here might have a son or daughter who will be a high school junior this fall, and might have an interest in joining our group in order to obtain the discount I negotiate with Kaplan? The discount is very substantial from their regular $1,095 tuition, and if you're interested you can email me directly at dan_sozzi@pacbell.net for more details. I've seen the results this class helps student athletes acheive, and I just figured it might be something that a few members of the umpire community would want to take advantage of for their own children, so I'm extending the opportunity to join my baseball team's group for this class if you're interested for your child.
We start this class at the beginning of September, and the students continue until mid-October when they take the PSAT. We then adjorn until early January when we resume and prepare for the March SAT test date. I want all my baseball players to take the SAT twice, in March and again in May. We get our own classroom, our own instructor, our own schedule. By the time the student takes the SAT in March, they've already taken it 5 times in the class for practice. It usually makes a 200-300 point difference in their SAT score.
